Background: Scentre Group embarked on designing a new Westfield mall at 309 Broadway, seamlessly integrating it with the existing structure. A key highlight of the project was a spacious outdoor entertainment area, complete with water features, planters, sizable trees, a children’s play zone, tiled sections, and outdoor seating – all situated on top of the shopping mall.

Objective: Scentre Group sought waterproofing suppliers in the market with a track record of delivering robust podium waterproofing solutions. Their mandate was crystal clear: any solution implemented must guarantee zero leaks upon completion, given the sensitive location above an operational shopping mall.

After careful consideration, Neuchâtel recommended the implementation of the Neuchâtel Mastic Asphalt system, renowned for its reliability and performance in demanding environments. This solution not only met the project’s stringent criteria but also offered a robust defence against potential leaks, ensuring the long-term integrity of the structure.

OUTCOME

Despite the inherent complexities of the project, Neuchâtel, together with our applicator partner Asphaltech Waterproofing, successfully executed the waterproofing solution within the stipulated timeframe and to an exceptional standard. The completion of the project marked a significant milestone, with the outdoor entertainment area standing as a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence.

Neuchâtel Mastic Asphalt Podium Terrace System

Extremely strong, durable and can be easily formed/molded to complex shapes the premium Podium system is perfect for modern construction. In its malleable state, when hot, it allows a full range of surface finishes from the mastic asphalt wearing layer, which can be stamped with patterns, coloured or just smooth flat providing a stable base for overlaying various surface finishes from the pavers on pedestals systems to simple decorative pebbled surfaces.
